A little Family Fun

I think we might have a piano player in the family! At the GR Children's museum, Abi was sitting and playing very nicely!! Lauren on the other hand, was banging as loud as she could.

Lauren was happy just to be the check out lady at the grocery store.  She was upset that other kids wanted to check out their own groceries!

Picking out a Christmas tree! We cut down trees from Jason's shop every year.  They are the epitomy of the Charley Brown tree, but I love them.  They always seem more real to me than the perfectly trimmed and sprayed ones that you get off a lot. And they are free.  Always slightly reminds me of searching the woods by my grandparents cottage for the perfect tree when I was younger.  It was always snowy and cold and we would usually have to hike for quite a while before we found the right tree.  Then of course we had to haul it all the way back out.  Those were always the best Christmas trees.  It just isn't the same to wander the rows of planted trees.

Our Next Adventure

We have butchered our own chickens and grown our own produce - but tonight we harvested our first game from the farm! Well, Jason and my dad did.  They decided that it would be a perfect night to test out the farm land.  I guess they were right. They got a goose after being out their for only a few minutes.

We have been watching flocks of geese land in the field next door for just over a week now.  A little back story might be nice - We leased out some the land to another farmer b/c we were not capable of doing anything with it just yet and he planted corn.  It was cut a week and a half ago. Since it has been cut we have gotten to watch five deer play, one fat skunk, someones black cat and LOTS of geese.

Tomorrow I get to figure out how to cook a goose!

Our girls found the goose very interesting. Lu-Lu was fasinated with the web feet.  She did say that she was not going to eat it, because she did not eat geeses. I remember her saying something along those same lines when we butchered chickens.
